ABOUT

Founder and designer Mara Hisako Giarratana Young describes her signature style as timeless and sophisticated with a dash of whimsy. Her designs reflect a traditional aesthetic interpreted through a contemporary sensibility, and she finds joy in creating homes that are both beautiful and functional.

Prior to design, Mara worked in fundraising and special events with a special emphasis in museums. Her years working for and alongside some of the world’s most stunning artworks instilled a deep appreciation for both neoclassical and contemporary aesthetics. Along with instilling fluency in color, texture, scale, and fine decorative details, Mara’s work in museums cemented a love of beautiful spaces. Today, she utilizes this past experience to assist clients interested in building an art collection into their home design.

Mara holds a bachelor of arts degree in art history from Fairfield University, a master of arts degree in Museum Studies from NYU, and has also studied interior design at the University of California at Berkeley. She credits her design training to Courtney Heaton and Laura Williams Ulam, the creative duo of interior design firm Heaton + Williams.
